how does a first time buyerfind a realtor - Zillow Real Estate Advice

Selecting an Real Estate Agent is a very very important selection..
This is a HUGE Financial endeavor not buying a Pizza or deciding what movie to see so using Agent Reviews on a site set up to help Agents find clients/leads would be silly and irresponsible imo.

Agents are selling Services..expensive services
(The cost will be included in the price you pay for the property)
Agents are competing with each other for your business, there is sales talk involved, claims of we do this, I'm the best, you get what you pay for, we have a Code so...

You are Hiring so you need to attempt to cut thru the Sales talk, the smoke. Become as informed as you can about the process, the options available then go out and interview, interview, interview

IMO everyone thinking of Buying or Selling should review the info on the Dept. of Justice website before talking to an Agent..know your options, what's available, determine what will work best for you
New business models are emerging that allow consumers to save thousands of dollars when they buy or sell a home

You don't "find" an RE Agent you Hire one and it's important to you that you make an good Hiring decision..it's your money and you're the one who will lose if you do not approach the selection seriously

Good Luck

Editor's desk: CES 2013 wrap-up

CES is a strange show. Apple's never been there. Google stopped going a couple of years ago. Microsoft stopped last year. BlackBerry didn't even have a booth this year. Sure, the mega corporations that also happen to make Android and Windows Phones, Samsung and LG and Sony have massive booths, but they're filled with televisions, home appliances, and technology prototypes than new, hero-class phones and tablets.

For iOS enthusiasts like us, it's mostly endless walls of iPhone cases, and to some degree iPad cases, with a few other accessories thrown in. Some of them are gorgeous, a few exciting, a few truly innovative. Many of the big accessory makers didn't even have new stuff to show at CES, just stuff they'd announced previously but hadn't wheeled out for the buyers, press, or consumers yet.

Part of that is timing. Early January is an odd time of the year to have to schedule new product announcements around. It's why Apple stopped doing the Macworld Expo Keynote. Part of that is the scale. Given the televisions, the cars, the appliances, the gadgets -- everything that could be a show in its own right, cramped all together -- it's hard for any one thing, in any one niche, not matter how innovative, to get attention.

Given the sheer quantity of stuff, it's easy to get lost. Watching the coverage can almost be as daunting as walking the floor. It spills from blog to blog, the way CES spills from hall to hall, hotel to hotel.

But taking a step back, there are a few larger things that emerge.

  • Big TVs. Super HD televisions are everywhere. The branding sucks -- what happened to 2160p or 4K? -- but the sets themselves are gorgeous. Of course, an iPad 4 is 1536p, so if the set is big enough and you're close enough, Super HD isn't anywhere near the Retina quality we've gotten used to. Still, if you've wanted a set bigger than 50-inches, they're coming. They'll cost a fortune, but so did HD and plasma/LCD tech at one point. (I remember seeing a 24-inch plasma in Hong Kong for $25K in the late 90s.) Would Apple enter that market with the TV equivalent of a Thunderbolt Display? Maybe eventually, but probably not in the way expected.

  • Big phones. Apple went to 4-inches this year, but most Android phones seem to be going to 5 or even 6. I'm not sure where the border between phone and tablet exists, but they're blurring it. I used a Nexus 4 on T-Mobile during CES (my iPhone is locked to Rogers), and even that was a little large. 6-inches is stupid large. I think Apple could increase its share of the addressable market by doing something closer to 5-inches, but if you want anything bigger just get a tablet and carry it on your shoulder, and own your 80s beatbox vibe.

  • Big platforms. Originally, accessories added value to phones. Now they're starting to use mobile technology as a platform for their own value. Whether it's small companies using the iPhone as the "brain" or "interface" for their own products, or large companies using Android as an embedded operating system across their appliances, everything is becoming connected. Unlike Samsung and LG, Apple doesn't have appliances divisions. That's a bigger topic, though, so I'll save it for a separate post.

  • Big community. Apple, Microsoft, Google, BlackBerry, et al may not or no longer be at CES, but the people who use their technology, who cover their products, who buy and sell them at retail, who discuss them endlessly online, are very much still there. I saw a lot of fellow bloggers at CES, and PR reps and people who work for the companies we cover, many of whom I only see at CES. I got to spend time with the other writers and editors of Mobile Nations, some of whom I only get to spend time with at CES. NVIDIA was kind enough to fly in several Mobile Nations readers, people I've interacted with in the comments and forums and on Twitter, and would never have had a chance to thank, were it not for CES.

  • Big surprises. A couple years ago at CES, the Mobile Nations team got to share a limo with one of the main Android guys at Google and we had a great discussion about trackballs/trackpads and the evolution of their platform. This year the CEO of BlackBerry dropped by our Mobile Nations party and we had a fantastic talk about user interface, experience, and the realities of the modern mobile space. That kind of stuff, for me at least, only happens at CES.

CES was never a big show for iMore, and its increasingly not a big show for others as well, but it's still CES, the biggest chow, the one where everything and everyone comes together.

I'm glad I went, and I'm glad we could bring all of you with us.

Mali Troops with help of French forcing Islamist Militants to Flee

French aircraft bombed Islamist rebels in northern Mali for the second day in a row Saturday, while neighboring West African states started readying troops to be deployed to help prevent al-Qaeda linked groups from expanding their power in the region.

France warned that the problem of northern Mali, which is under control by the militants, posed a threat to the security of Europe. On Friday, in dramatic fashion, the French intervened by bombing strongholds of the rebels, as rebels who were heavily armed raced south towards the Mali?s capital of Bamako.

Under cover of French fighter planes and helicopters, Mali troops routed a group of rebels and forced the Islamist rebels from the town of Konna in central Mali that was a strategic stronghold for the rebels after they took it over on Thursday. An army officer said that more than 100 rebels had been killed.

A French pilot was shot down in his helicopter by rebel forces and died near the town of Mopti.

France?s president Francois Hollande made it very clear that France?s goal in the African country was to support West African troops deployment, which was endorsed by the European Union, the U.S. and the United Nations.

The fear is that Islamists will use Mali as a base for operations to make attacks on the West and increase links with al-Qaeda militants that are now based in North Africa, Yemen and Somalia.

A shop owner in Konna reported that scores of the Islamist rebels had been killed and their bodies were piled in the streets, while there were dozens of dead soldiers as well.

White House: Thumbs down on Death Star

20th Century Fox

The Death Star was a fearsome battle station in the Star Wars saga - but purely fictional.

By Alan Boyle

The White House says building a Death Star would be an out-of-this-galaxy waste of money ??not only because it's against government policy to blow up planets, but also because the United States already has access to a space station as well as a laser-wielding space robot.

Today's official statement on the Death Star issue, titled "This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For," was written by Paul Shawcross, chief of the science and space branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget. It comes in response to a?"We the People" petition?that?called on the federal government to start building a "Star Wars"-style Death Star battle station by 2016.

"By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense," the petition read.

The petition garnered more than 25,000 online signatures within a month,?partly due to a signing campaign that went viral on 4chan, Reddit and Twitter. Under the Obama administration's rules for the "We the People" program, that required the White House to come up with a reply.

Shawcross and his colleagues clearly rose to the challenge, with an essay that should satisfy the policy geeks as well as the "Star Wars" geeks. Here's the full text:

This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For
"The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:

  • The construction of the Death Star?has been estimated?to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
  • The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
  • Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

"However, look carefully (here's how) and you'll notice something already floating in the sky ? that's no Moon, it's a Space Station! Yes, we already have a giant, football field-sized?International Space Station?in orbit around the Earth that's helping us learn how humans can live and thrive in space for long durations. The Space Station has six astronauts ? American, Russian, and Canadian ? living in it right now, conducting research, learning how to live and work in space over long periods of time, routinely welcoming visiting spacecraft and repairing onboard garbage mashers, etc. We've also got two robot science labs ??one wielding a laser?? roving around Mars, looking at whether life ever existed on the Red Planet.

"Keep in mind, space is no longer just government-only. Private American companies, through?NASA's Commercial Crew and Cargo Program Office (C3PO), are ferrying cargo ? and soon, crew ? to space for NASA, and are pursuing?human missions to the Moon this decade.

"Even though the United States doesn't have anything that can do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, we've got?two spacecraft leaving the Solar System?and we're building a?probe that will fly to the exterior layers of the Sun. We are discovering?hundreds of new planets in other star systems?and building a much more?powerful successor to the Hubble Space Telescope?that will see back to the early days of the universe.

"We don't have a Death Star, but we do have?floating robot assistants?on the Space Station, a President who knows his way around a?light saber?and?advanced (marshmallow) cannon, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which is supporting research on building?Luke's arm, floating?droids, and quadruped?walkers.

"We are living in the future! Enjoy it. Or better yet, help build it by pursuing a career in a science, technology, engineering or math-related field. The President has held?the first-ever?White House?science fairs?and?Astronomy Night on the South Lawn?because he knows these domains are critical to our country's future, and to ensuring the United States continues leading the world in doing big things.

"If you do pursue a career in a science, technology, engineering or math-related field, the Force will be with us! Remember, the Death Star's power to destroy a planet, or even a whole star system, is insignificant next to the power of the Force."

Update for 9:35 p.m. ET Jan. 11: The White House statement quickly sparked a Twitter response from Darth Vader himself: "A serious mistake, Mr. President. You can never have enough planet-sized lasers."

Update for 1:40 a.m. ET Jan. 12: NASA may brag about the space station and its laser-equipped Curiosity rover, but that's not enough, Death Star PR says in a Twitter update: "Until you put the laser and the space station together and start blowing up planets, you're not doing enough Science."?

Alfred Morris, London Fletcher named second team All Pros

Written by Anthony Brown on .

?

Redskins Hog Heaven congratulates Alfred Morris and London Fletcher for their selection to the Associated Press NFL All-Pro Second Team for the 2012 season.

Adrian Peterson (Vikings) was the unanimous choice for first team running back. Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) joins Peterson on the first team. Jamaal Charles joins Morris as second team running back.

Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman, both of the 49ers, were named first team Inside Linebackers. Daryl Washington (Cardinals) joins Fletcher on the second team at ILB.

None of those fabulous rookie quarterbacks from the Golden Class of 2012 made the cut as Associated Press All Pro. The NFL voted QB Robert Griffin III, LT Trent Williams and specials team Lorenzo Alexander to the 2013 Pro Bowl.

Griffin won't be playing football anytime soon. He sure earned a trip to Hawaii for his 2012 performance.

Republican: Akin 'partly right' on rape comment

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Republican Rep. Phil Gingrey, an OB-GYN since 1975, said former Rep. Todd Akin was "partly right" when he said women's bodies can avoid pregnancy in cases of "legitimate rape."

However, the six-term Georgia lawmaker issued a statement Friday, the day after his comments, saying his position was misconstrued and that he neither defends nor stands by Akin's remark.

Gingrey spoke to constituents at a Thursday breakfast meeting and commented on both Akin and Richard Mourdock, two Republican Senate candidates tripped up by their clumsy comments last year about rape and abortion, according to the Marietta Daily Journal in Georgia. Republicans disavowed Akin after his statement, and Mourdock was widely criticized when he said pregnancy resulting from rape is "something God intended."

"Part of the reason the Dems still control the Senate is because of comments made in Missouri by Todd Akin and Indiana by Mourdock were considered a little bit over the top," Gingrey said, according to the newspaper. "Mourdock basically said 'Look, if there is conception in the aftermath of a rape, that's still a child, and it's a child of God, essentially.' Now, in Indiana, that cost him the election.

"And in Missouri, Todd Akin . was asked by a local news source about rape and he said, 'Look, in a legitimate rape situation' ? and what he meant by legitimate rape was just, look, someone can say I was raped: a scared-to-death 15-year-old that becomes impregnated by her boyfriend and then has to tell her parents ? that's pretty tough ? and might on some occasion say, 'Hey, I was raped.' That's what he meant when he said legitimate rape versus non-legitimate rape.

"I don't find anything so horrible about that," Gingrey said. "But then he went on and said that in a situation of rape, of a legitimate rape, a woman's body has a way of shutting down so the pregnancy would not occur. He's partly right on that."

He made the comments to the Smyrna Area Council of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, according to the newspaper.

Gingrey added that he has been an OB-GYN since 1975 and understands pregnancies.

"And I've delivered lots of babies, and I know about these things. It is true. We tell infertile couples all the time that are having trouble conceiving because of the woman not ovulating, 'Just relax. Drink a glass of wine. And don't be so tense and uptight, because all that adrenaline can cause you not to ovulate.' So he was partially right, wasn't he?" Gingrey said. "But the fact that a woman may have already ovulated 12 hours before she is raped, you're not going to prevent a pregnancy there by a woman's body shutting anything down, because the horse has already left the barn, so to speak. And yet the media took that and tore it apart," the congressman said.

Gingrey is co-chairman of the GOP Doctors Caucus, which was formed in March 2009 to challenge President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. He also is a member of the Health subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce panel.

He sought to explain his comments, saying in a statement issued by his office Friday, "At a breakfast yesterday morning, I was asked why Democrats made abortion a central theme of the presidential campaign. I do not defend, nor do I stand by, the remarks made by Rep. Akin and Mr. Mourdock. In my attempt to provide context as to what I presumed they meant, my position was misconstrued."

Gingrey's initial comments drew widespread criticism.

"Just when I think Republicans can't possibly be any more wrong when it comes to women, they find a new low. In one fell swoop, Republican Congressman Phil Gingrey said women regularly lie about being raped, that they're able to prevent a pregnancy simply by 'being tense and uptight,' and that Todd Akin had a point," said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY's List.

Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said it was "alarming and telling" that the head of the GOP Doctors Caucus shared Akin's views.

Hotpoint Washing Machine Repairs Error Codes

Whilst a incredibly leading-edge device with spiffy functions and functions may sound like a quite very good buy, they are almost certainly not if you are looking at the greater photograph. Generally keep in mind that the a lot more contemporary household equipment are, the a lot more highly-priced they get when you keep and mend them. If some areas crack down, you need to swap them. Extra frequently than not, individuals parts are more highly-priced than the more simple versions.

Washing machine And witnessed a vast variety of washing machines, at the time the huge head, suffering a straight facial area mentioned to me, did not expect so a lot of types of washing devices will also divided, but in the close will need to link themselves that what is not obvious. I think persons like my buddy there are lots of, then I am going to inform you about the adhering to classification of washing machine for your obtain for a reference.

Pour undiluted white colored vinegar or an additional acidic cleaner (lemon juice, for illustration) into your dishwasher's detergent container and run the machine to obvious residues that impact the efficiency of the device. If difficult water spots on your dishes are what's bothering you, there are specifically-formulated detergents for hard-drinking water spots available. If buildup on performing components of your device are intense, you may perhaps want to scrub with incredibly good steel wool to loosen the deposits on spots you can see, and then abide by up with a vinegar rinse.

Likely into a washing machine repair shop will be additional useful than you may possibly think. You can go in to any machine shop and get washing machine assessments from the human being that is effective on the devices by themselves. This is a wonderful way to obtain out which machines are in require of service the most and which ones are not. You will locate that the facts that you are in a position to get from an individual that will work on washing machines themselves is incredibly valuable, and they can suggest you of which models or brand names to steer crystal clear of as perfectly. By inquiring anyone that works on these devices themselves, you are certain to locate out which machines are excellent and which kinds are not so good.

The cost of cooking area kitchen appliances can be really high, primarily for friends and family homeowners exactly where you can not realistically get away with acquiring the smallest, least expensive product obtainable. The issue of how pricey these are to invest in will become a massive dilemma when our washing device or any other family equipment breaks down.

An agitator is a mechanism that can make the washing device to shake and rotate and presents it movement. The agitator faces several problems during the course of giving movements to the machine often may well finish up offering irregular actions as well.

I cleaned all the parts as best I could and designed my machine up again. I was not about to dump a perfectly great washing device, So I decided to find an remedy to the challenge. I have nothing at all versus fluid detergents, but in my knowledge they can go away a residue at the rear of them on low temperature washes, which just builds up more than time. It seems to leave a damp layer inside of a machine which offers off a lousy scent of damp.

Let us say that your dishwasher just isn't working adequately. You happen to be not sure what's completely wrong, but your dishes do not appear to be to be finding thoroughly clean. You begin rinsing them even extra extensively than you did right before, but that however doesn't assist. So, you begin scrubbing them and, essentially, washing them before you place them in the dishwasher. Ahead of you know it, you're employing--and spending for--double the sum of h2o and soap that you generally use.

With the current state of the economy, working from home is more practical than making the attempt to find an additional job. It is difficult to start a small business, but as you network, you can start to be profitable. This article should help you get a better idea of what a successful multi-level marketing campaign is.

Encourage your contacts to liberally express their views, and listen closely to what they have to say. If you strive to learn the most about them by way of social media, blogs or other means of contact, you will be better positioned to market your products. When you understand their needs and desires, you can target them directly in your marketing strategy.

Get a white board and write your goals on it as a constant reminder of what you are working for and of your long term strategy. Consider all of the things that you want to accomplish with your business. Would you like to purchase an expensive gift for yourself like a big house, a nice care or a boat?

TIP! Take a look at the strategies of industry leaders and learn from them. Try to pick up tips on how to model your business after their formulation to avoid common mistakes that can hurt your business.

Think about helping others, instead of just selling services and products in multilevel marketing. Instead of drawing attention to the fine points of a product, focus on providing a unique service that aids a problem your customer may encounter. This will turn it into a more desirable product.

For ultimate long-term success, plan and set goals for your short-term activities. Although your goals may be focused three or five years down the road, you need to set smaller goals in the ninety day range to work towards your long-term ones. By reviewing your performance regularly and setting interim goals, you can keep your marketing efforts in line with your long-term plan.

Do not invest into a business before going to your local Better Business Bureau for resources. TAMOUN, West Bank (AP) ? An arrest raid by undercover Israeli soldiers disguised as vegetable vendors ignited rare clashes in the northern West Bank on Tuesday, residents said, leaving at 10 Palestinians wounded.

Israeli army raids into Palestinian areas to seize activists and militants are fairly common. The raids are normally coordinated with Palestinian security forces, and suspects are usually apprehended without violence.

The clashes began early Tuesday after Israeli forces disguised as merchants in a vegetable truck arrested one man. Regular army forces then entered the town, prompting youths to hurl rocks to try to prevent more arrests.

Israeli forces fired tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition as youths set tires and bins on fire to block the passage of military vehicles. In several hours of clashes, dozens of masked youths hid behind makeshift barriers, hurling rocks and firebombs at soldiers.

Faris Bisharat, a resident of Tamoun, said 10 men were wounded, some by live fire. Bisharat said the wanted men belong to Islamic Jihad, a violent group sworn to Israel's destruction. It wasn't clear how many men Israeli forces sought to arrest. There were no immediate details on how seriously the 10 were hurt.

The Israeli military said it arrested a "terrorist affiliated with the Islamic Jihad terror group." It said two soldiers were injured during the raid.

The fighting, which broke out in several parts of the town of some 8,000 people, were a rare, angry response. It was also unusual for Israeli forces to use live fire toward Palestinian demonstrators. Israel says it uses live fire only in extremely dangerous situations.

Analysis: Economy would dodge bullet for now under fiscal deal

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A deal worked out by U.S. Senate leaders to avoid the "fiscal cliff," was far from any "grand bargain" of deficit reduction measures.

But if approved by the U.S. House of Representatives, it could help the country steer clear of recession, although enough austerity would remain in place to likely keep the economy growing at a lackluster pace.

The Senate approved a last-minute deal early Tuesday morning to scale back $600 billion in scheduled tax hikes and government spending cuts that economists widely agree would tip the economy into recession.

The deal would hike taxes permanently for household incomes over $450,000 a year, but keep existing lower rates in force for everyone else.

It would make permanent the alternative minimum tax "patch" that was set to expire, protecting middle-income Americans from being taxed as if they were rich.

Scheduled cuts in defense and non-defense spending were simply postponed for two months.

Economists said that if the emerging package were to become law, it would represent at least a temporary reprieve for the economy. "This keeps us out of recession for now," said Menzie Chinn, an economist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The contours of the deal suggest that roughly one-third of the scheduled fiscal tightening could still take place, said Brett Ryan, an economist at Deutsche Bank in New York.

That is in line with what many financial firms on Wall Street and around the world have been expecting, suggesting forecasts for economic growth of around 1.9 percent for 2013 would likely hold.

At midnight Monday, low tax rates enacted under then-President George W. Bush in 2001 and 2003 expired. If the House agrees with the Senate - and there remained considerable doubt on that score - the new rates would be extended retroactively.

Otherwise, together with other planned tax hikes, the average household would pay an estimated $3,500 more in taxes, according to the Tax Policy Center, a Washington think tank. Budget experts expect the economy would take a hit as families cut back on spending.

Provisions in the Senate bill would avoid scheduled cuts to jobless benefits and to payments to doctors under a federal health insurance program.

AUSTERITY'S BITE

Like the consensus of economists from Wall Street and beyond, Deutsche Bank has been forecasting enough fiscal drag to hold back growth to roughly 1.9 percent in 2013. Ryan said the details of the deal appeared to support that forecast.

That would be much better than the 0.5 percent contraction predicted by the Congressional Budget Office if the entirety of the fiscal cliff took hold, but it would fall short of what is needed to quickly heal the labor market, which is still smarting from the 2007-09 recession.

"We continue to anticipate a significant economic slowdown at the start of the year in response to fiscal drag and a contentious fiscal debate," economists at Nomura said in a research note.

In particular, analysts say financial markets are likely to remain on tenterhooks until Congress raises the nation's $16.4 trillion debt ceiling, which the U.S. Treasury confirmed had been reached on Monday.

While the Bush tax cuts would be made permanent for many Americans under the budget deal, a two-year-long payroll tax holiday enacted to give the economy an extra boost would expire. The Tax Policy Center estimates this could push the average household tax bill up by about $700 next year.

The suspension of spending cuts sets up a smaller fiscal cliff later in the year which still could be enough to send the economy into recession, said Chinn.

He warned that ongoing worries about the possibility of recession could keep businesses from investing, which would hinder economic growth.

"You retain the uncertainty," Chinn said.

Egypt prosecutors investigate popular TV comedian

CAIRO (AP) ? Egyptian prosecutors launched an investigation on Tuesday against a popular television satirist for allegedly insulting the president in the latest case raised by Islamist lawyers against outspoken media personalities.

Lawyer Ramadan Abdel-Hamid al-Oqsori charged that TV host Bassem Youssef insulted President Mohammed Morsi by putting the Islamist leader's image on a pillow and parodying his speeches.

The case against Youssef comes as opposition media and independent journalists are growing increasingly worried about press freedoms under a new constitution widely supported by Morsi and his Islamist allies.

Other cases have been brought against media personalities who have criticized the president. Some of the cases have ended with charges being dropped. Morsi's office maintains that the president has nothing to do with legal procedures against media critics.

On Tuesday, the independent daily Al-Masry Al-Youm, one of Egypt's most widely circulated newspapers, said Morsi's office filed a complaint accusing it of "circulating false news likely to disturb public peace and public security and affect the administration."

The paper had published a report earlier this week attributed to sources saying that Morsi was due to visit the hospital where ousted President Hosni Mubarak is receiving treatment after being injured in his prison cell. Mubarak is serving a life sentence for failing to stop the killing of nearly 900 protesters during the uprising against him.

A visit by Morsi would have enflamed public anger. The paper later updated the story to say that Morsi's wife had only visited a relative in that hospital.

The paper said a reporter and an editor were summoned for interrogation.

A local committee of journalists and editors has called for stronger guarantees of press freedoms and a rejection of the current constitution, fearing it allows for jailing journalists under broadly-worded articles regarding media offenses.

Authorities ordered the closure of TV station "Al-Fareen" last summer after bringing its owner, Tawfiq Okasha, to trial for scathing attacks against Morsi and his Brotherhood group. Okasha had emerged as one of the most popular TV personalities of post-Mubarak Egypt by railing against the uprising that toppled Mubarak's 29-year rule in February 2011.

Another prominent case was directed at the editor of a prominent opposition newspaper, al-Dustour, who has since stepped down. He went on trial briefly for "spreading lies" and fabricating news.

Youssef, a doctor, catapulted to fame when his video blogs mocking politics received hundreds of thousands of hits shortly after the 2011 uprising that toppled longtime leader Mubarak.

Youssef's program is modeled after Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show," where he has appeared as a guest.

Unlike other local TV presenters, Youssef uses satire to mock fiery comments made by ultraconservative clerics and politicians, garnering him a legion of fans among the country's revolutionaries and liberals.

Among his most popular clips are the ones where he pokes fun at the president's speeches and decisions.

While holding a red, furry pillow with Morsi's picture on it, Youssef satirizes Morsi's style of speech.

"He tells us things we never knew," he says, before wordy clips of Morsi going into detail about the day of the week and other basic facts.

"It's October 6! Tell us when it's Christmas!" Youssef shouts to the camera as the audience erupts in laughter and applause.

Youssef, 38, is one of Egypt's most popular TV presenters with 1.4 million fans on Facebook and nearly 850,000 followers on Twitter, just shy of the president's number of followers.

Also Tuesday, police said they arrested a suspect in a shooting that seriously wounded a protester in Cairo's central Tahrir Square, where an open-ended sit-in protesting the Morsi regime is taking place.

According to witnesses, before dawn on Monday, gunmen shot and wounded 19-year-old Muhanad Samir, who has said he was jailed and tortured under Egypt's former ruling military council after he witnessed the killing of another activist. Lawyers say the attacked appeared to target Samir, who is battling for his life with pellets embedded in his head.

Security officials dismiss allegations Samir was the victim of a political assassination. On Tuesday, they said they arrested the owner of a cafe in downtown Cairo who told police that he fired on the square after people manning makeshift checkpoints there searched his car and shot at him. The officials spoke anonymously in line with regulations.

Must See HDTV December 31st January 6th

This week we say goodbye to 2012, and after the New Year's Eve festivities tonight we welcome not only college football bowl games and pro football playoffs, but also the return of many of our regularly scheduled TV shows. EHD podcast fave Justified also makes an appearance this week as seaosn three comes to Blu-ray. Portlandia fans should be ready to put a bird on it, and all those who've remained Downton Abbey spoiler free can check out the series' return Sunday night. Look below for the highlights this week, followed after the break by our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and videogames.

Looper
This time travel flick stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis playing a hitman that suddenly has the inconvenience of having both his present and future self existing at once, to the dismay of his employers. As with all movies that put time travel at their center it quickly gets more complicated, but there are some decent special effects scenes that make it well worth checking out in HD.
($19.99 on Amazon)

College Football
Bowls and bowls and bowls. While we're still awaiting the championship game, there are several big time games scattered throughout the week, plus a bevy of smaller bowls to keep things interesting. Check after the break for the dates, times and teams, and don't skip over the college football championship that will be played this week as Sam Houston State and North Dakota State vie for the FCS (aka DI-AA) crown

Over/Under
This USA show wasn't picked up for a series, but its two hour pilot will air Friday night. Its plot follows a fallen day trader / degenerate gambler that starts a high-end booking business. We highlight it because fans of Breaking Bad (and, we guess, Revolution, if it has fans) might want to check out Giancarlo Esposito popping up in a supporting role.

Oil steady as 'fiscal cliff' deadline approaches

(AP) ? Oil prices were little changed Monday as a U.S. budget deadline neared with rival politicians still at odd over key issues.

Benchmark oil for February delivery was down 8 cents late morning London at $90.72 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell 7 cents to finish at $90.80 per barrel in New York on Friday.

The focus over the rest of the day will continue to focus on developments in Washington D.C. The Senate has to agree a deal by the end of Monday to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff" of automatic tax increases and spending cuts.

Republicans and Democrats remained divided over tax and spend, raising the real prospect that financial markets will start 2013 without a clear idea over the budget policy of the world's largest economy. The main sticking point appears to be what level of income higher taxes are imposed.

Economists have warned that the U.S. economy could be thrown into recession if the tax hikes and spending cuts go into effect ? $536 billion in tax increases that would touching nearly all Americans and a loss of $110 billion in government spending.

If the deadline passes without a deal, the U.S. won't immediately sink into recession. Lawmakers can repeal the tax hikes and spending cuts retroactively if a deal is reached a few weeks after the New Year's deadline.

In London, Brent crude, used to price various kinds of foreign oil, fell 43 cents to $110.19 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

In other energy futures trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange:

? Wholesale gasoline fell 0.4 cents to $2.7958 a gallon.

? Heating oil fell marginally to $3.020 a gallon.

? Natural gas fell 0.02 cents to $3.460 per 1,000 cubic feet.
